gear.casa sets no cookies. We don't use Google Analytics, ad trackers or any third-party scripts. Our visitor counts come from our own server, and they're built so we can't tell who you are.
What we store
- Page views. For each visit: the page, the site that sent you (just its name, like reddit.com), whether you're on a phone, tablet or computer, the hour, and the rough location our hosting provider gives us (city and country). That's how we know which pages get used.
- Which post or link sent you. Links we share often carry tags like
utm_source=xthat name the post. We count those tags, and which card a link pointed to (like "RTX 3080"). If the link came from an ad, we note which platform it was from (for example TikTok), never the ad's click ID. - What you did on the page, in general. Whether a visit stayed at least 10 seconds or used the page, whether the filters or sort were used, which cards' price history was shown, and when someone clicks through to eBay, which card it was and how that visit arrived. These are counts, sent by the page while it's open, with nothing stored in your browser.
- A daily visitor number. To count visitors rather than page loads, we scramble your IP address and browser type with a random key that we throw away at the end of each day. The result can't be turned back into your address, and tomorrow's number can't be linked to today's.
- Link clicks. When you click through to eBay we add one to that link's click count and note the time. Nothing about you is stored with it.
What we don't store
- Your IP address or full browser details. They're used for the scrambled number above and never saved. The random key that scrambles them lives only on the server that made it and is deleted when the day ends.
- Your name, email or anything else about you. There are no accounts and nothing to sign up for.
- What you type in the search box, or the exact filters you set. We only count that the filters were used, and which card a shared link pointed to.
In your browser
Your browser remembers two display settings on your own device: light or dark mode if you pick one, and the table columns if you change them. They're never sent to us.
When you go to eBay
Buy links go through gear.casa and then to eBay. Once you're on eBay, eBay's own privacy policy and cookies apply, including the ones that let eBay know you came from us so we're paid a commission.
